Pet Safety Leading Up to July 4

Make sure your pets have identification tags with up-to-date info. Ensure their collar is snug but not too tight and the tags aren’t worn or damaged.

If your pets aren’t already microchipped, talk with your vet about microchipping. This simple and inexpensive procedure improves your chances of getting your pets back if they become lost.

If your pets are microchipped, ensure your contact info in the registry is up-to-date.

Take a current photo of all of your pets, just in case.

If your pet is known to be anxious or sensitive to loud noises, consider having someone stay with your pet, whether this be a family member, friend or pet sitter. Some pets may require medication during this time – especially evening time on July 4. Consult your vet.

Random fireworks leading up to July 4 and during the day on July 4 can surprise everyone. Make sure your yard is secure. Consider keeping your pets in the most secure area during these days leading up to and even after July 4.
