Yumi and Zack opened Encinitas Pet Sitting over nine years ago, just shortly after we moved to Encinitas from Peru, where Yumi is from, and where Zack was serving in the Peace Corps!
 
In the early days, we took care of just one dog at a time in the tiny casita we were renting. Once we saved up enough money to buy our car, Bruno, we started offering services at clients’ homes, as well.
 
During these early years, Zack performed musical gigs mostly at senior homes. Before adopting Bruno the car, he would ride his bike to gigs with his guitar on his back. Yumi would also come along to help when more instruments and speakers were required for rocking and rolling. Zack also started editing podcast audio and writing and recording custom songs, even while still in Peru.
 
All these fun jobs kept us very busy until the pandemic hit. After a couple of months of waiting for the world to return to normal, we realized that it may be a bit longer than that, and it was time to pivot.
 
At this point, Encinitas Pet Sitting evolved into a boutique business focusing on offering select services to a smaller number of clients to ensure the continued best level of care.
 
Since Zack’s gigs also slowed down, he decided to focus on audio editing – specifically for podcasts. Enter: The Podcast Man – a production and management agency that helps entrepreneurs and businesses launch and maintain their podcasts.
 
Around this same time, one day, while walking a doggy, a new idea was born which eventually came to be known as The Paper Song! Now, almost 5 years later, The Paper Song offers personalized song and video gifts, perfect for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and so much more!
 
Now, we’re looking into how Encinitas Pet Sitting and The Paper Song can work together by offering the personalized song and video gift for fur babies! We know firsthand how much love a family has for their pets, and think this would be such a lovely and fun way to honor them.
